Schedule 1: List of Families
Extracted from National Archives Microfilm No, M432-910 by Dorothy Albrecht
This census was taken between September 4 and September 14, 1850 by Archibald McNeill. Specifically, pages 26A – 29B were enumerated on September 4, 1850, pages 30A – 33B were enumerated on September 5, pages 34A – 37B were enumerated on September 10, pages 38A – 39B were enumerated on September 11, 1850, pages 40A – 43B were enumerated on September 12, 1850, and page 44A was enumerated on September 14.
This schedule listed the members of each non-slave family group in the county. It can reasonably be assumed that the census taker, Archibald McNeill, went from door-to-door to gather the information, and therefore that the families who appear next to each other on the census lived in reasonable proximity to each other. However, McNeill did not provide the name of any city or geographic area at the top of or anywhere else on any page.
For this version of the census, we have listed the families in the same order as McNeill did. We have placed, at the head of each family group, the page number on which the group appears, the line number on which the head of the household appears, the group’s arbitrarily assigned household number, and its arbitrarily assigned family number. All surnames are left-justified and appear in boldface. When they were known, modern or correct spellings of surnames have been included in square brackets. All group members with the same surname are listed behind it, Personal information for each group member appears in parenthesis. For nearly all persons, such information includes age, gender, and birthplace. For heads of household and some others, it includes age, gender, occupation, value of real estate, and birthplace. Some persons are noted to be in school.

Schedule 2: Slave Inhabitants
Extracted from National Archives Microfilm No. M432-0917 by Bill Stein
This part of the census was taken on September 4, 5, 10, and 11, 1850 by Archibald McNeill.
This schedule presented a list of the county’s slaves, grouped under their owner’s names. The slave’s names were not given. Instead, a column was provided to number them. Rather than doing so, McNeill simply put a "1" on every line in the column. For this version of the census, we have numbered each slave owner’s slaves. Following the number, we have enclosed in parenthesis the age, gender, and color of each slave as McNeill reported them. Usually, that is the only information provided.
Two slave owners, Angus McNeill and R. H. Foote, appeared on Schedule 2, but not on Schedule 1.
